Why use a professional law firm to make your LPA?
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a very powerful document if drafted correctly. It is very easy to give your attorneys too much power, or not enough. It is also very easy to invalidate an LPA by making it too complex, or not making clear your intentions.
You could complete the forms for your LPAs yourself, or you could use an online service to do this for you, however in most cases the buck stops with you. If you are not experienced in these matters it is worth getting professional legal advice, and the cost of doing so might save you many times more in the future. Goodwills has completed over 10,000 LPAs since 2007, and we know the pitfalls, and where it is likely that mistakes will be made. We also know what is required from the Office of the Public Guardian when the documents are registered.
